A Summer in Italy! – Rome Experience: Florence
Last week I began part 1 of my summer assignment on a program called the Rome Experience.
This program involves traveling to Florence, Bracciano, and Rome, Italy/Vatican to see the beauty, history, and inner life and workings of the heart of the Church. The past week we were in Florence and saw many of the Church’s wonders from across the centuries in the city where the Renaissance was born. We took tours and explored the city for about three days and even went to Mass in the famous Duomo.
This is my very first time being in another country and being overseas. I was nervous about the 6 hour plane ride and living for a time across the world and being in daytime while my family back home is in nighttime (something weird about that to me lol).
However, thanks be to God, the 6 hour plane ride was actually the best and smoothest one in my still very limited experience in flying and I have been having a good time so far with the group of 20+ guys also studying for the priesthood. I am seeing things I have only ever read about (or have seen while playing Assassin’s Creed 2 on my PlayStation)
Late last week we left Florence for Bracciano for a silent retreat for four days or so. Then we will be off to Rome for a month.
Pray for our safe and beneficial travels! Thank you!
Here are some of the highlights so far.
